Naval Science Instructors

Chief Raul Campos retired from the U. S. Navy after serving 25 years.  He qualified with Special Forces and served as an instructor in Central and South America. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and a Master of Arts in Education.  He has been a Naval Science Instructor for San Ysidro High School since 2005.

Petty Officer First Class Kisha Phillips retired from the U. S. Navy after 20 years of service.  She served three years on a floating drydock before becoming a Navy Recruiter and Career Counselor. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.  She has been a Naval Science Instructor for San Ysidro High School since 2022.

 

Senior Naval Science Instructor

Lieutenant Commander Terrie Lohmeyer retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 21 years as a Fleet Support Officer, Human Resource Officer and Naval Officer Recruiter.  Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Master of Arts in Education.  In addition to JROTC, she also holds a Pupil Personnel Services credential for school counseling.  She has been the Senior Naval Science Instructor since 2012.

Unit Highlights

San Ysidro NJROTC Cadet Attends Naval Academy Preparatory School

Cadet Commander Reba Pamintuan was selected to attend the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island.  Upon successful completion of the yearlong program, she will then report to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland as a member of the class of 2024.  This highly competitive educational program includes full tuition, room and board, summer training, and a stipend totaling approximately $450,000.

 

Former San Ysidro NJROTC Cadet Commissioned

Naval Science Instructor Chief Raul Campos recently attended a graduation and commissioning ceremony for Samantha Guevara, a former San Ysidro High School NJROTC cadet and 2010 SYHS graduate.  Guevara was one of four graduates at Arizona State University to be commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy.  It was a proud moment for her, her family, and for Chief Campos who was honored to give ENS Guevara her first salute!

 

 

San Ysidro NJROTC Wins Chaparral Athletic Meet

After weeks of practice, San Ysidro High School NJROTC finished in 1st place overall at the Chaparral Athletic Meet!   San Ysidro cadets also won 1st place in Dizzy Izzy, Wheel Barrow, Boardwalk, and Push Ups; 2nd place in volleyball; and 3rd place in the mile relay.  Congratulations to Cadet Cristal Mota for placing 1st in the female push up category and to Cadet Brian Martinez for placing 4th in the male push up category.

 

 

San Ysidro NJROTC Selected to Represent California

The Pearl Harbor Parade Committee selected San Ysidro High School NJROTC to represent the state of California and the USS California in the 2013 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to the incredible experience of marching in the parade the forty cadets who made the trip also enjoyed visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri Battleship, the Dole Plantation, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Diamond Head, and the beach.  The trip was indeed an opportunity of a lifetime!
